Restoring character homes is one of my greatest passions. Bringing a character dwelling back to life and up to today's living standards, especially through an extension where modern design knowledge and creativity can truly flow. For me, the end result for Fairlight Cottage, always needed to feel like a natural evolution of the home rather than a jarring contrast. Contemporary in its bones, but grounded and liveable at its core.

My client's brief was clear: to breathe new life into their character home through a contemporary rear extension, while honouring everything that made the original dwelling so special. They wished for the space to feel warm, light-filled, have some flair and feel connected to its surrounding landscape. My clients live by the ‘buy once, buy right' mentality, which gave me the opportunity to focus the design on materials that are not only beautiful, but durable and practical enough to stand the test of time.
